As a pioneer in additive manufacturing processes, TRUMPF offers solutions from a single source: machine, laser and services. This gives customers a clear competitive advantage. Carbon steels such as 1.2343, 1.2344 and Dievar can now also be produced by TRUMPF. This means that tool inserts can now also be printed from materials that have already been established in mould making for decades. It is no longer necessary to switch to printable alternative materials. In future, mouldmakers will be able to print tools with near-contour cooling even better.

Until now, the cooling speed in the printing process led to cracks. Preheating the build plate to 500 °C suppresses the formation of cracks and immediately leads to flawless printing results.

Other carbon-containing alloys can also be printed with TRUMPF's additive manufacturing systems. The additively manufactured parts can be well polished and heat treated, just like conventionally manufactured parts.
