Werkzeug & Formenbau – Ehrenmedaille
Every two years, at Moulding Expo, the Werkzeug & Formenbau – Ehrenmedaille, an honory medal for tool, pattern and mould makers, is awarded for special achievements in the industry.
The medal is awarded by an independent jury, including representatives from the associations VDWF, VDMA, VDW and the WBA Tooling Academy Aachen (WBA). The award is not intended to honour a completed life's work of the honoured - rather, it is intended to be an incentive to continue to make good things happen for the industry and to be a role model and beacon for young people in particular.
Congratulations to Günter Hofmann
on the 2023 Ehrenmedaille
"Moulding Expo has always been a special event. In my opinion, it has always been important for tool construction companies to exhibit at trade fairs. This year, my visit to Moulding Expo was really special. I was delighted to receive the honorary tool construction and mould making medal. This award is a great honour for me, especially when you look at the previous winners. I am pleased to be placed in this league."
In 2021, the tradition was continued as part of the virtual trade fair evening, the Spätschicht "MEX Special" organised by the VDWF. The award was given to Lothar Horn, the former managing director of Paul Horn GmbH in Tübingen and an entrepreneur who achieved great change in the industry. On behalf of Lothar Horn, who was unable to attend, his son Markus Horn accepted the medal of honor.
Prof. Fritz Klocke
In 2019, the jury decided unanimously. Prof. Fritz Klocke earned the award with his exemplary career and sustained commitment to the tool, pattern and mould making industry.
Willi Schmid und Margot Schenk
In 2017, the award was presented to Willi Schmid and his business partner Margot Schenk. In addition to his work as a toolmaking entrepreneur, he and his business partner Margot Schenk established with the VDWF one of the most important industry associations.
The winner of the 2015 honory medal, Karl-Heinz Möller, editor-in-chief and publisher of the magazine "Der Stahlformenbauer" (Fachverlag Möller), was the first who gave the industry a voice with his publications.
