Privacy policy Messe Stuttgart App

As part of the "Messe Stuttgart App" (hereinafter referred to as the "App") provided by us, you will have access to information publicly provided by Messe Stuttgart for planning your visit to the trade fair, for searching for exhibitors, products, brands and supporting programmes. The app also offers interactive hall plans and a news function.

Responsible for data processing:  Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH, Messepiazza 1, 70629 Stuttgart.

1.)    Firebase

Our App uses the "Firebase" analysis service. The following user processes are analysed

•    How often users have viewed which pages within the app (URLs/links).
•    Performance of the app (analysis of errors and crashes.)
•    Dynamic IP-adresses of the devices
•    Positional data

In addition, information can be sent to users via "Firebase" via notifications (push notifications), this is technical information or updates to event pages that can be accessed within the app.
You have the option of deactivating the use of Google Analytics ("Firebase") in the respective settings of your mobile device. To do this, please use the settings in the "Settings" menu on your Android device within the respective event offer within the Messe Stuttgart app. For iOS devices, you can make adjustments in the app-specific privacy settings.
The described use of "Firebase" is carried out in order to continuously optimize our app and its content, functionalities and user-friendliness. These purposes constitute our legitimate interest in data processing. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

2.) Access to features while using the app

As a matter of principle, the app does not have access to the functions or media of your device.
You have the option of saving exhibitor contacts directly in your address book as contacts. This checks locally on your device whether the contact is already saved in your address book. To store exhibitor contacts, our app needs access to your address book. Access will only be granted if you have previously consented to this. The legal basis for this is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, which you can revoke at any time with effect for the future.

You have the option to save appointments directly within your calendar. To do this, our app needs access to your calendar. Access will only be granted if you have previously consented to this. The legal basis for this is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, which you can revoke at any time with effect for the future. To do this, please deactivate access in the app settings on your device.

3.) Advanced Connectivity Features

In certain cases, additional connectivity functions may be activated for some events. If a networking function is available for an event, you can communicate with other users of the app via private chat rooms without this being visible to anyone other than the participants you have specified in the private chat room. You can also be contacted individually by other users via a private channel. In order to make this networking function available, we process your personal data, in particular your data in your user account (surname, first name, company, job title, position, profile picture and country). If you participate in the networking function, we use an algorithm for matchmaking that determines the match between your interests and the interests of other users and exhibitors and displays them in the order of the respective match. As part of networking and matchmaking, we create profiles based on your stated interests. We match your interests with the interests of other networking participants and create a list in descending  order of other networking participants with whom you share the most interests. These participants will be suggested to you as possible contacts. In this respect, your personal data is processed for the fulfillment of the contract and for the provision of the networking function (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR). Further information on data protection can be found in the respective privacy policy of the event in which the extended connectivity functions are active.

4.) Data Recipients

When using our app, we work with our service provider Corussoft GmbH (Kurfürstendamm 56, 10707 Berlin), who processes your data strictly in accordance with instructions pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
In addition, Google is granted access to the data described in section 1 (“Firebase”). Further information on data protection at Google can be found here.
If there is a transfer to a third country as part of the use of the app and if there is no adequacy decision for the respective third country in accordance with Art. 45 para. 3 GDPR, an adequate level of data protection is ensured by means of EU standard contractual clauses and, if necessary, additional measures. For further information on third country transfers, you can contact us by emailing to Datenschutz(at)messe-stuttgart.de.

5.)  Storage period: the data stored in "Firebase" is stored for 14 months in accordance with the standard data retention guidelines of Google Analytics for Firebase.
