Sustainable Event Management – Even in Tomorrow’s Energy System

Messe Stuttgart puts into practice what is discussed at Volta-X: the responsible use of energy and resources. Over 43,000 m² of solar panels on the roofs generate approximately 3.5 million kWh of green electricity annually—supplemented by CO₂-neutral hydroelectric power and innovative cooling and heating concepts utilizing ice storage and stratified ventilation technology.

As early as 2010, an industry standard was set with the “Green Steps.” Since then, the fair has actively promoted sustainability: as a partner company in the “Sustainable Destination Stuttgart Region,” a member of the Baden-Württemberg Climate Alliance, and winner of the 2024 German Sustainability Award.

The trade fair not only reduces its own emissions but also those of its guests: According to an AUMA study, trade fair visits prevent an average of five additional business trips—a strong argument for in-person interaction at events like Volta-X.
