südback Trend Award: catalyst for the industry10.04.2019
Continuous further development, optimisation and innovative ideas are vital for companies in every industry in order that they can survive and set themselves apart from competitors. The südback Trend Award has been presented since 2002 and honours companies in the baking industry who have made a special contribution in actively shaping the future. The südback Trend Award, which stands for innovation and progress, will be presented this year for the twelfth time during südback 2019 from 21 to 24 September 2019.
The winners of the Award will receive a quality seal for their achievement and will benefit from an exclusive competitive advantage, i.e. easier entry to the market.
The südback Trend Award is presented by Messe Stuttgart. The trade journals Allgemeine Bäcker-Zeitung (ABZ) and BÄKO-magazin support this competition as partners. The co-organisers are the BÄKO Head Office of Southern Germany and the Regional Association of Guilds of Württemberg Bakers.
Spotlight on product developers and inventors
Entries can be submitted in three categories: marketing, sales & organisation, raw materials & convenience, and technology. The categories make it easier to assign the competition entries and also render them more comparable.
The competition is only open to innovations which have been on the market for less than one year or have been developed to market maturity and are about to be launched on the market. It must be possible to present the latter products at südback 2019 as series products. All domestic and foreign companies in the industry are eligible to take part in the competition.
Functional systems, complete installations and individual parts or designs can be registered and submitted as competition entries. The deadline for entries is 31 May 2019.
A jury evaluates the entries in regard to their level of innovation, utility and user-friendliness for users, their use or implementation with economically justifiable expense, functionality, operational safety, environmental compatibility, recycling and hygiene.
Competitive advantage for the winners
The winners are informed before südback starts so that they can use the quality seal beforehand for advertising purposes and their forthcoming attendance at südback. In order to give due recognition to innovation, the Award is presented during the official opening of südback.

Around 700 exhibitors meet trade visitors from home and abroad at südback, Trade Fair for the Bakery and Confectionery Trades. On an exhibition area of 65,000 square metres (gross) companies present the key topics of working and operating technology, raw materials, merchandise, shop fixtures and fittings, sales promotion and services relating to the bakery trade. südback will be staged this year for the first time with more exhibition space and a changed hall structure. In addition to Halls 5, 7 and 9, the Oskar Lapp Hall (Hall 6) and the Alfred Kärcher Hall (Hall 8), südback will also occupy the new Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10). The total amount of exhibition space will increase by 10,000 square metres. This also means that a wider range of products and services will be offered. The new hall constellation will promote a circulating flow of visitors around the trade fair grounds.
