There are four exciting days for the bakery trade in autumn: since its première in 1978, südback has become one of the most important meeting points for the bakery and confectionery trade. Its appeal has long extended beyond the borders of Germany. With 708 exhibitors and 37,504 visitors from 98 countries, the 2019 edition of the popular trade fair set new records – and received, as confirmation of the overall concept, top marks from the totally satisfied visitors and exhibitors.
südback 2020 will be held from 17 to 20 October 2020 and will also make a great impression again next year with its unique mixture of a product show, information and an accompanying programme.
High expertise of visitors and strong purchasing power
Literally everything relating to baking will be found on an exhibition area of around 65,000 square metres – from workwear, ecological cultivation, coffee and snacks through to complete furnishings and digital solutions for all company sizes. The sheer range of products and services also attracts an ever increasing number of visitors to Stuttgart from restaurants, hotels and catering companies. The organisers are delighted with the expertise and purchasing power of the visitors: on average, two thirds of visitors to südback are involved in purchasing and procurement decisions, while many of these visitors are responsible for these decisions. More than half of visitors are planning investments in the near future.
Large number of registrations already received
Andreas Wiesinger, a member of the Board of Management of Messe Stuttgart says "the continuing success of südback is the result of proven and constructive collaboration with our partners." Together with the BÄKO-ZENTRALE eG, the Regional Association of Guilds of Württemberg Bakers and the Baden-Württemberg Regional Association of Confectioners’ Guilds, "we are again working at full speed and with motivation on a trade fair concept for südback 2020 that also takes account of current topics such as fiscalisation and digitalisation. A large number of exhibitors have already registered, and we will start stand area planning at the beginning of next year. We are retaining our new hall concept which has been welcomed by visitors and exhibitors alike. Positioning six halls opposite one another will mean that the flow of visitors can circulate. In 2020, we are also looking forward to a südback in tune with the times – with strong support from craft trades, experts and young people."
Accompanying programme containing numerous highlights
One of the mainstays of südback is its wide-ranging accompanying programme which offers various opportunities for technical discussions and networking. New technologies are demonstrated, ideas are examined and tasty recipes are presented in both the bakers' forum and the confectioners' trend forum. The undisputed highlights of every südback naturally include the südback Trend Award: in 2019, more applicants than ever before entered. This is a clear indication of the importance attached to this award within the industry. In collaboration with its partners Allgemeine BäckerZeitung (ABZ) and BÄKO-Magazin, Messe Stuttgart has been presenting this award to exemplary innovations since 2002. It will therefore be interesting to see who wins next year!
