Outdoor living as a trend topic at INTERGASTRA

OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING. at INTERGASTRA 2020 / Increased demand for high-quality solution systems

Outdoor living is very much in vogue – and not just at R+T 2021, the world's leading trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems, but also beforehand at INTERGASTRA, the leading trade fair for the hotel and gastronomy business from 15 to 19 February 2020. Here, renowned manufacturers will be presenting innovative sun and weather protection systems – from awnings and sunshades through to terrace roofs with various accessories – in the special show OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING. "The special show will offer hoteliers and restaurateurs a superb range of products and services together with an overall concept for organising and extending their business," explains Sebastian Schmid, Department Director Technology at Messe Stuttgart, who is responsible for OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING. and R+T. This interface was already used successfully in 2018 when the special show OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING. was staged for the first time in the Rothaus Park at Messe Stuttgart – both during INTERGASTRA and R+T. Due to the excellent response, the special show will be held again in 2020 during the leading trade fair for the hotel and gastronomy business – and on an even wider and more extensive scale than the première.

Numerous high-quality solutions

All the exhibited solutions which extend the outdoor season are characterised by an attractive design, technical sophistication, high functionality and maximum flexibility in regard to their potential uses. "High-quality solutions are becoming more and more important in view of the increase in extreme weather conditions caused by climate change," said Thilo Weiermann, Managing Director of weinor GmbH & Co. KG. With respect to his company's participation again in OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING., he adds: "The major advantage of this special show is that trade visitors gain a very good impression of the advantages of our sun and weather protection solutions – both from technical and design aspects – primarily on account of the outdoor location. This enables us to clearly present our quality arguments under real conditions, for example while people are enjoying a beer or eating a sausage. Our appearance indoors, where we present other products, is a very good complement in this respect."

Markilux GmbH & Co. KG will also be represented both in the Oskar Lapp Hall (Hall 6) and in the Rothaus Park. Jan Kattenbeck, Team Leader Projects, explains: "In particular, hoteliers and restaurateurs have long recognised that they can actively use this plus in the quality of (outdoor) life for their guests and customers. Here at Markilux we are convinced that visitors gain an entirely new impression of outdoor living through the connection between the topic areas. We are therefore pleased to present our service in this context for the first time at INTERGASTRA." Overall, he believes that there is growing demand in the combination of services and products. "Additional benefits for restaurateurs are created through complete packages. We are in a very good position here with the high-quality Pergola, Syncra, Construct, Planet and Markant systems."

Leiner GmbH will also take part in OUTDOOR. AMBIENCE. LIVING for the first time. "We will be there with our cubic folding terrace roof Pergola Sunrain Q, the patented Sunrain as a free-standing gastronomic Sunrain and one or two large restaurant umbrellas," said Andreas Husmann, Sales Manager Gastronomy & Hotels, providing an outlook, e.g. on the umbrella avenue between Hall 5 and the Oskar Lapp Hall (Hall 6) right up to the outdoor area between Hall 9 and the Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10). "We have been working successfully in the gastronomy sector for years and know that customers do not think in terms of product, but rather in solutions. The concept takes account of precisely this aspect."

Trade visitors at INTERGASTRA 2020 can therefore look forward to a colourful marketplace with a large number of innovative sun and weather protection systems in the Rothaus Park. These systems will enable them to extend the outdoor season to the maximum. "Outdoor areas in restaurants and hotels can be used in this way irrespective of the weather. This represents an important factor in regard to profitability and customer satisfaction," said Sebastian Schmid. This much is certain: the outdoor living area will also again be a trend topic at R+T 2021 – especially in relation to the Monday as a new trade fair day which will allow restaurateurs in particular to visit R+T.

1,025 exhibitors (2015: 888) from all over the world presented their products and services in Stuttgart in 2018. 774 of these exhibitors came from abroad. The 65,500 visitors (2015: 59,057) also came from all parts of the world: they travelled from over 140 countries. A total of 38,706 visitors came from abroad (2015: 59,057). They spent an average of 2.1 days (2015: 2 days) discovering the innovations and trends at R+T in detail.
