Design meets functionality11.08.2017 - 13:42
The demand for high-quality internal sun protection systems is growing continuously. Trade visitors will therefore also be able to see a wide range of systems in this segment during R+T in Stuttgart from 27 February to 3 March 2018. Internal systems have long been used for more than decorative purposes, they also make valuable contributions towards anti-dazzle protection and energy efficiency.
According to the annual figures of the members of the Association for Interior Blinds and Shading Devices (ViS), extremely good sales and turnover results were attained especially by roller blinds, pleated blinds and Venetian blinds in 2016. "We attribute the figures to the still very positive development in the construction industry and high consumption by private households," said Martin Auerbach, Managing Director of the Association. He will be present at the leading world trade fair along with the ViS and sums up what the systems can do: "Modern architecture calls for intelligent sun protection systems. Our products combine aspects such as acoustics, energy efficiency, visual protection, sun protection and light control with innovative and visually very attractive solutions.“
Roller blinds recorded the highest growth among ViS members with 14.8 per cent in 2016. A wide range of colours, designs and models permits high-quality and individual creative possibilities. "We offer three size ranges with our system and the roller blind programme is completed by the new development of roof surface roller blinds. A suitable solution is therefore available for every requirement," said Ralf Zimmermann, Managing Director of Benthin. Every system of the manufacturer includes a corresponding choice of specific models which are distinguished by their operating options, configurations and potential uses. "The main characteristic of our systems is the impression created by the elegant and subtle design of all components, covers, cassettes and lateral guides. The systems can therefore be integrated in any window," said Ralf Zimmermann.
Pleated blinds are still the consumers' favourite - either in a simple form or as duette pleated blinds. This is proved by a 6.9 per cent increase in sales in 2016 with a turnover share of more than 50 per cent for all products offered by ViS members. One undoubted factor for their success is that pleated blinds can be used for many different purposes. Trade visitors to R+T in Stuttgart in 2018 will be able to see this for themselves on the exhibition stands. "Our customised systems can be continuously positioned on the window and are easy to operate," said Jörg Erler, Managing Director of Erfal. Depending on the mood, situation or time of the year, a very individual decision can be taken on how much light is required.
In particular, there is high demand for duette pleated blinds: two fabric panels lying behind one another form here an insulating air layer which keeps out both heat and cold air. Heat therefore stays outside in summer and warmth is kept in a room in winter. These blinds also offer other advantages: "Duette pleated blinds are true multi-talents. They combine sun protection, shading, heat prevention, energy conservations and sound adsorption," said Jörg Erler.
According to statistics from the ViS, Venetian blinds also developed positively with a 2 per cent rise in sales. They will be presented in many different designs on the large number of exhibition stands at R+T 2018. "Venetian blinds effectively regulate the incidence of light and therefore also the room temperature," said Ulf Kattelmann, Managing Director of Kadeco. Different materials, slat widths and finishes have ensured that this product group is experiencing a kind of revival. For example, aluminium Venetian blinds create an elegant appearance on windows. "Stripes", one-off products from Kadeco, are proving very popular with customers. They can be produced slat for slat according to individual colour preferences, thus lending living rooms their very own special character.
Kadeco's product portfolio also includes wooden Venetian blinds. "Wooden Venetian blinds and shutters are becoming increasingly more important, especially in high-quality furnishings for private homes and buildings, since they satisfy the demand for natural materials in living rooms and radiate cosiness," said Ulf Kattelmann.
They also provide technical convenience and reliable operation. For 50 millimetre aluminium and wooden Venetian blinds Kadeco has just developed a new chain hoist system which will also be presented at R+T 2018.
