A home game for the SOMMER Group

From drive and radio technology to door and gate systems, security and climate adaptation solutions: at R+T 2027, the SOMMER Group will showcase the full range of its brands and a host of new products. For the company, based in Kirchheim unter Teck, the world’s leading trade fair in Stuttgart is also a true home game. In this interview, Melanie Sommer and Steffen Schaaf offer a preview of what visitors can expect at the stand—and explain why personal dialogue plays such an important role in developing new solutions.

What can visitors expect at your stand at R+T 2027?

Melanie Sommer: R+T is a very special event for the SOMMER Group. With our headquarters in Kirchheim unter Teck, Stuttgart is practically home for us. We’re all the more delighted to welcome visitors from around the world to our home trade fair.

Steffen Schaaf: At our stand, we’ll present the full breadth of the SOMMER Group. With our brands SOMMER, DOCO, Groke, Triebenbacher, metaku, Aperto and MyDoor, we offer solutions from a single source for drive, door, gate and access technology. Visitors can experience innovative products first-hand, talk with our experts and discover how modern technologies bring comfort, security, design and efficiency together.

Melanie Sommer: Our aim is not just to present individual products. We want to show how intelligent, integrated solutions can be developed to meet the needs of specialist partners, fabricators, architects and end customers alike.

Which products will be in the spotlight?

Steffen Schaaf: The focus will be on numerous new products and further developments from across the SOMMER Group. There will be news from every area, but this year SOMMER will have plenty to show in industrial and radio technology in particular.

Melanie Sommer: We’re especially looking forward to presenting Groke’s high-quality aluminium entrance doors and loft doors. Flood protection is another important topic for the future. The effects of climate change, including increasingly frequent heavy rainfall and flooding, are creating new challenges for property owners, planners and fabricators. Our flood-protection door combines effective protection with design, quality and functionality.

Steffen Schaaf: We’ll also be presenting DOCO’s garage and industrial door systems, door panels from metaku, and Triebenbacher’s components and system solutions for metal construction. Together, our brands offer a portfolio that ranges from individual components to complete door, gate and access solutions.

What are you most looking forward to?

Melanie Sommer: R+T is the leading international meeting place for our industry. We’re especially looking forward to meeting and talking with customers, specialist partners and interested visitors from all over the world.

Steffen Schaaf: Many of our innovations are inspired by market requirements and direct feedback from our customers. Conversations at the trade fair provide valuable ideas for new developments and help us continually improve our products and services. This dialogue is one of the reasons R+T has been so valuable to us for many years.

Melanie Sommer: At the same time, we want to show just how broad the SOMMER Group’s offering has become. From drive and radio technology to door and gate systems, and solutions for security, comfort and climate adaptation, we support our customers with a strong network of brands and expertise.

Steffen Schaaf: Innovation is not an end in itself. Our goal is to develop products and solutions that deliver real benefits for our customers—in planning, installation, use and service. That’s what we want visitors to experience at R+T 2027.
