Leinfelden-Echterdingen, the large county town in the administrative district of Esslingen, presents itself as a green alternative to the big city. LE is geographically situated in the heart of the Stuttgart region, just a few minutes away from the state capital by S-Bahn or car. Almost two thirds of the area is woodland or is used for agricultural purposes.
The population has grown to roughly 39,000 since the foundation of the town in 1975. Companies from the most diverse industries, some with international significance, shape the economic structure and provide over 32,000 jobs.
The good transport connections and the location in the economically and technically strong region of Stuttgart primarily make Leinfelden-Echterdingen a top location. Numerous companies have subsidiaries located here and make Leinfelden-Echterdingen a flourishing economic location. The most important branches of industry are services, computer technology and information processing, mechanical engineering, metal- and wood-working, electronics and publishing and printing.
The large county town is also perfect as a place of residence. In addition to high-quality jobs, Leinfelden-Echterdingen offers a diverse events programme. But Leinfelden-Echterdingen doesn't just beam with galleries and museums, theatre performances, concerts, cultural monuments and street art. The big highlight is the well-known 'Filderkrautfest' (cabbage festival), which attracts roughly 50,000 visitors every year in October. Here it's all about the local cabbage which has been cultivated in the Filder region since the mid-18th century. Today the cabbage is grown on 250 hectares and is appreciated by gourmands far beyond the borders of Baden-Württemberg.
Idyllic countryside and tradition thus meet progress and innovation. A perfect mix for a broad-minded, future-oriented town.
