VDMA Young Talent Initiatives

How Maker inspire young people for technology

It is explicitly desired to touch and to try out: at LASYS 2018, International Trade Fair for Laser Material Processing, the VDMA will once again promote students in science and technology with hands-on projects.

The German industry is always looking for highly qualified professionals and creative minds to ensure their innovative capacity in the future. The VDMA, professional and conceptual supporter of LASYS, will once again be supporting this year’s international trade fair with a special initiative for young talents. In order to attract the next generation of potential young professionals to laser and light technologies, the VDMA together with VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH will show exciting Do-it-Yourself (DIY) optic and photonics exhibits at its booth (4B37). There it is explicitly desired to touch and to try out!

The projects are developed by “Maker”, who are creative hobbyists and tinkerer, and supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the context of the initiatives "Make Light" and "Open Photonics". High school students from all over Baden-Württemberg are invited to experience the physical understanding of lighting technologies in an understandable way by trying out the exhibits; the exchange with “Maker” should also stimulate their creativity.

Looking at the last campaign for young talents, around 300 students invited by the VDMA came to the LASYS 2018. All participants reported a successful visit and event.

The exhibitors at LASYS can look forward to meet the curious young audience, as well. They are invited to receive groups of students on their booths, this gives the opportunity to introduce their company and its innovative developments to the next generation of talents and to promote career opportunities in their company.

Further information on the initiative of the VDMA in cooperation with VDI Technoloiezentrum at LASYS 2018 will follow shortly.
