How Maker inspire young people for technology
The German industry is always looking for highly qualified professionals and creative minds to ensure their innovative capacity in the future. The VDMA, professional and conceptual supporter of LASYS, will once again be supporting this year’s international trade fair with a special initiative for young talents. In order to attract the next generation of potential young professionals to laser and light technologies, the VDMA together with VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH will show exciting Do-it-Yourself (DIY) optic and photonics exhibits at its booth. There it is explicitly desired to touch and to try out!
The projects are developed by “Maker”, who are creative hobbyists and tinkerer, and supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the context of the initiatives "Make Light" and "Open Photonics". High school students from all over Baden-Württemberg are invited to experience the physical understanding of lighting technologies in an understandable way by trying out the exhibits; the exchange with “Maker” should also stimulate their creativity.
At the last Lasys in 2018, around 300 students and their teachers accepted the invitation of the VDMA to attend the event.
The exhibitors at LASYS can look forward to meet the curious young audience, as well. They are invited to receive groups of students on their booths, this gives the opportunity to introduce their company and its innovative developments to the next generation of talents and to promote career opportunities in their company.
The Young Talent Initiatives at LASYS is carried out by the VDMA in cooperation with the VDI Technology Centre.
