Preparations are under way for the upcoming trade fair following a successful event in 2016

INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA 2016 was a success: 25,458 visitors from 57 countries attended the event from 27 to 30 November 2016, meeting with a total of 412 exhibitors demonstrating the latest technology trends for the production, processing and marketing of wine, fruit juice and special crops. The trade fair advisory board came to this conclusion following analysis and discussion of the exhibitor and visitor survey.

The trade fair advisory board has now set the date, together with the organisers, for the next event: INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA will be taking place from 4 to 6 November 2018 on the grounds of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. The new chairman was also appointed during this meeting: Rudolf Fischer, Managing Director at Scharfenberger Maschinenbau, will be taking over from Joachim Schröder. The event organiser and trade fair council are now aiming to bring all leading suppliers on board and thus remain the top international get-together for this industry. Professional supporters of the event, the German Winegrowers' Association (DWV) and the German Agricultural Society (DLG), will be organising another exciting and informative programme of accompanying events in 2018, highlighting new developments and the latest technology.

The traditional INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA event was expanded in 2016 with the introduction of special crops, and has since been given the name INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA. “Winegrowers, fruit juice producers and producers of special crops are often faced with the same challenges, however also new opportunities. With INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA, we are making use of this synergy and promoting an exchange between the various disciplines. We are delighted that the new concept from 2016 was so well received by visitors and exhibitors,” said Dr. Rudolf Nickenig, General Secretary of the German Winegrowers' Association (DWV). DWV, together with the German Agricultural Society (DLG), is responsible for the content of the trade fair. Philipp Schulze Esking, Vice President of DLG and Chairman of the Exhibitions division, added: “The visitors left with many new impressions and plenty of inspiration. We are looking forward to preparing for the coming trade fair and further expanding our offer in 2018.”

Trade fair date remains in November

The trade fair advisory council confirmed during its meeting at the start of 2017 that the trade fair date will continue to be held in November, and will not be overlapping with other trade fair events. “The start of November is a good month for our guests as the harvesting is completed by then and the Christmas period has not yet begun. This is their chance to find out more about the latest technical innovations and consider possible new purchases,” said Ulrich Kromer von Baerle, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart, summing up the deliberations of the council.

Full programme in three days
The development of INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA can also be seen in the event concept: the trade fair in 2018 will now be taking place over three days instead of the usual four, as decided by the council. This is in response to suggestions made by the exhibitors, who wished to see a more concentrated trade fair schedule.

INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA is the international technology trade fair for wine, fruit juice and special crops. The focal points of the trade fair are cultivation and harvesting technology, processing and process control, filling and packaging technology, and organisation and marketing. The trade fair is held every two years at the Stuttgart trade fair centre.
The professional supporter for the wine section is the German Winegrowers' Association (DWV), Bonn. The professional supporter for the special crops section is the German Agricultural Society (DLG), Frankfurt am Main. A large number of other institutes and associations also act as professional partners in supporting the topics and sections at the trade fair, e.g. for fruit, fruit juice and spirits.
The predecessor of INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA was founded by the German Winegrowers' Association. From 1969, the winegrowing trade fair was held under the name INTERVITIS. In 1989, the trade fair was extended to include the fruit and fruit juice sections, and was henceforth known as INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA. In 2014, the German Agricultural Society, a leading agricultural body and organiser of agricultural trade fairs and exhibitions, was engaged as the professional supporter for the area of special crops. The trade fair took place for the first time under the name INTERVITIS INTERFRUCTA HORTITECHNICA from 27 to 30 November 2016.
