Culinary Olympics coming to Stuttgart20.07.2017 - 00:00
Now in their 25th year, the IKA/Culinary Olympics will be held for the first time concurrently with Intergastra (15 to 19 February 2020) in Stuttgart. This was jointly announced by the German Chefs' Association (VKD), the organiser of the event, and Messe Stuttgart.
According to Andreas Becker, President of the VKD, the change of venue for the 25th IKA/Culinary Olympics is "a step into the future." "Stuttgart provides us with the opportunity to present the IKA/Culinary Olympics in a better international light," explained Becker. "Thanks to the around 100,000 visitors at Intergastra, the Association can address a large number of trade visitors."
Over 2,000 chefs from more than 50 countries will come to Stuttgart to take part in the world's largest professional competition. National teams of chefs want to set culinary trends and win Olympic chefs gold. "The Culinary Olympics show what chefs can do. A positive profession is also demonstrated here," emphasised Andreas Becker. As the "Culinary Olympics“, the IKA/Cooks' Olympics is an internationally renowned event.
Fritz Engelhardt, Chairman of the Baden-Württemberg branch of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga), is delighted with the decision. "IKA in Stuttgart in the long term - this is an asset for the hotel and restaurant industry and every participant," said Engelhardt. A suitable setting for this internationally renowned event will be provided by Intergastra, one of the most important European trade fairs for restaurants, hotels and dedicated hosts. "Intergastra is perfectly suited to the largest international professional competition for chefs and patissiers. We are looking forward to IKA 2020,“ said Ulrich Kromer von Baerle, President of Messe Stuttgart.
