Improved anode loops in fuel cell systems

Due to increasing customer requirements in terms of reliability and efficiency during operation, as well as other specific requirements, passive recirculation is in the focus of development projects. This trend was observed in the early stage at HOERBIGER and therefore the Hydrogen Pressure Control Unit (HPCU) was developed. The HPCU compensates the disadvantages of passive recirculation by providing e. g. high entrainment ratios at low stack loads and and improved controllability over nearly the complete flow rate operation range.

To design an improved anode loop for a PEMFC system, also the water separator is a crucial component, as it needs to be optimized in regards of the boundaries of passive recirculation. This task is solved by the customer specific anode module from HOERBIGER. It increases overall system performance with energy efficient H2 injection and recirculation combined with enhanced water management in the anode loop.
