Who made it into the German Gelato Europe Cup Team?

The plans for the major competition were well underway! The aim of the German qualifying round at GELATISSIMO 2026 was to form the German team which will represent the country in the Gelato Europe Cup 2027 in Rimini.

The gelato competition is organised by Gelato e Cultura together with Landesmesse Stuttgart within the framework of GELATISSIMO and was aimed at experts from the gelato and confectionery trade.

The exciting competition took place on February 10, 2026, on the ice stage 10C60. The future German team consists of a confectioner and an ice cream maker. 

Times on February 10, 2026:

  • 9:00 a.m. | Check-in at the gelato stage (Hall 10 | Booth 10C60)
  • 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. | Round 1: Start of gelato production
  • 10:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. | Jury evaluation Mystery Box
  • 11:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. | Jury evaluation Decorated Gelato Pan
  • 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. | Jury evaluation Gelato Cake
  • 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. | Round 2: Start of gelato production
  • 2:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. | Jury evaluation Mystery Box
  • 3:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. | Jury evaluation Decorated Gelato Pan
  • 4:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. | Jury evaluation Gelato Cake
  • 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. | Award ceremony for the overall winner of the German preliminary round of the Gelato Europe Cup

Mystery Box

  • The participant had to prepare 1 single gelato variety. The quantity of the mixed ice cream was approx. 3 litres.
  • The gelato had to be manufactured in the flavour specified by the organiser, which was drawn at the start of the competition. 
  • At least one main ingredient provided by the sponsor had to be used. Participants must brought any additional ingredients themselves.
  • The ice cream was presented to the jury in a neutral cup without any decoration.

Decorated gelato pan based on chocolate ice cream

  • The participants had to prepare 2 gelato containers, each approx. 3 kg.
  • Cup decorations were freely selectable. All decorations could be freshly made or premade. However, the decoration had to be edible.
  • At least one main ingredient provided by the sponsor had to be used. Participants must brought any additional ingredients themselves.
  • The gelato tasting at the jury table took place in a neutral cup provided by the organiser.

Gelato cake

  • The participants had to prepare an ice cream cake that could be freely decorated with at least 1 and maximum 3 gelato varieties.
  • Any toppings were allowed such as semifreddo, fruit skewers, sauces, crispy base, biscuit, candied fruit.
  • All decorations cuould be freshly made or premade. However, the decoration had to be edible.
  • There was a free choice of design. The participant cuts the cake. A serving plate had to be brought along.
  • At least one main ingredient provided by the sponsor had to be used. Participants must brought any additional ingredients themselves.

Important

The technical gelato lab equipment will be provided. In addition, the organizer will provide the following basic ingredients which may optionally be used by the participant: granulated sugar, dextrose, glucose, skimmed milk powder, whole milk, cream (35%) + products from sponsors. All other ingredients and additional equipment such as kitchen utensils required for preparation must be brought by the participant.
