Fair Handeln differs from all other current exhibitions in the areas of fair trade and sustainability due to its strict eligibility criteria. It is a binding condition for exhibitors in the Fairtrade section that they have accepted and implemented the definition by FINE, the international federation of the Fairtrade umbrella organisations (FLO, IFAT, NEWS! and EFTA). Proof of certifications and standards must also be provided (e.g. TransFair, WFTO, GOTS, FWF). Exhibitors in the "fair trade" section are selected in cooperation with the fair trade Forum.
The objectives of Fair Handeln are
- to further extend the sales platform for specialist and general retailers so that it acts as an international information and contact exchange
- to create synergy effects and impetus by networking the exhibition areas
Fair Handeln is based on an attractive accompanying programme and educational events for the general public and also acts as an advanced training platform for decision-makers, consumers and media through its special events.
Fair handeln offers trade visitors and consumers the entire range of fair trade products extending from traditional food, eco-fair clothing and accessories, home textiles and textile art, art/craftwork, decorations, flowers and leather goods through to musical instruments.
Its exhibition areas are structured as follows:
