Neckarsteig, Roman paths

Get away from it all and enjoy nature: that's easy in the Odenwald. The legendary forests, wild romantic gorges and the much-praised Neckar Valley make the Odenwald one of the most scenic regions in Germany and are ideal for exploring on foot or by bike.

From vast forests and delightful meadows through to a former volcano, there is a suitable hiking trail for every physical condition. One of the absolute highlights among the hiking trails is the Neckarsteig, which is 127 kilometres long and runs from Heidelberg to Bad Wimpfen. Anyone who prefers shorter themed hiking trails can follow in the footsteps of the Romans on six footpaths in the Odenwald.

The Odenwald holiday region contains a large number of cycling routes for cyclists. They include day cycling tours on one of the themed cycle paths and the two quality cycling routes, i.e. the "Neckar Valley Cycle Route" and the "Odenwald-Madonna Cycle Route". Both sporty and pleasure cyclists will find a suitable cycle path here.
