In connection with the purchase of tickets, personal data is processed by more than one controller.
Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG (“Messe Stuttgart”) is the controller responsible for processing personal data in connection with the provision and technical operation of the ticket shop.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA (“Fraunhofer IPA”), a legally dependent institution of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V., is, as the organiser of the 3rd Biointelligence Congress in Stuttgart, the controller responsible for processing personal data in connection with the organisation and delivery of the event.
The relevant data protection information for each of the two controllers is set out below.

1.1 Controller responsible for the ticket shop
The controller responsible for operating the ticket shop within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG (Messe Stuttgart) is the controller responsible for all processing of personal data carried out in connection with the provision and operation of the ticket platform, especially when users register for and use the ticket shop.
1.2 Scope of data processing by Messe Stuttgart
Messe Stuttgart processes personal data in connection with the 3rd Biointelligence Congress ticket shop to the extent necessary for the provision, technical operation and use of the platform. This includes, in particular:
registration and management of a user account,
technical processing of ticket purchases,
provision and management of tickets,
secure and stable operation of the platform, and
measures to ensure IT security and prevent misuse.
1.3 Purposes and legal bases
Messe Stuttgart processes personal data for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:
Performance of the agreement governing use of the ticket shop
(Article 6(1)(b) GDPR)
Technical operation, security and stability of the platform
(Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; legitimate interest in a secure and properly functioning ticket shop)
Compliance with legal obligations, in particular retention obligations under commercial and tax law
(Article 6(1)(c) GDPR)
1.4 Data processing by the organiser
The organiser of the 3rd Biointelligence Congress is the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, Nobelstraße 12, 70569 Stuttgart. It is the controller responsible for all processing of personal data that does not relate to the operation of the ticket platform but is connected with:
performance of the contract,
holding the event,
admission checks,
communications with participants, and
compliance with the organiser’s own legal obligations.
The organiser is independently responsible for this data processing under data protection law.
1.5 Payment processing
Payment for ticket purchases is not processed by Messe Stuttgart, but by its payment service provider, Mollie B.V.
Messe Stuttgart:
is not involved in payment processing,
does not receive any payment data (e.g. credit card or bank account details), and
is not responsible for this data processing.
1.6 Transfer of data to the organiser
When you purchase a ticket, the personal details you enter (surname, first name, address, email address, telephone number, company and billing address) and certain ticket-related information (e.g. ticket code, order number, admission status and time of purchase) are transferred to the organiser of the 3rd Biointelligence Congress to the extent necessary for performance of the contract and organisation of the event.
The transfer is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the agreement governing use of the ticket shop).
Where the transfer is necessary for organisational purposes connected with running the event (e.g. admission checks or verification of ticket status), it is also based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in ensuring that the event is run properly and securely.
The organiser is independently responsible under data protection law for any further processing of this data.
1.7 Storage period
Messe Stuttgart stores personal data only for as long as necessary to operate the ticket shop, administer the contract or comply with statutory retention obligations.
Statutory retention periods, particularly those under commercial and tax law, remain unaffected. Once the relevant periods have expired, the data is deleted or anonymised.
