5. Categories of Recipients
We work with the service provider Corussoft GmbH (Kurfürstendamm 56, 10707 Berlin), who processes your data strictly according to our instructions in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR. Your data is stored in data centers in the EU. For more information on third-country transfers, feel free to contact us at datenschutz@messe-stuttgart.de.
d. Data Collected, Purposes, and Legal Basis for Processing when Using Networking Features
After registration and acceptance of the terms of use, we process your data for the provision of networking features beyond the scope described in section c as follows:
1. Profile Data for the Public Participant Directory
After registering for the networking features of the app, a personal profile is automatically created for you. You can complement it with additional data, such as "Company," "Job Title," "Phone Number," "Areas of Interest," "Additional Information," and a profile picture. The use of this data is for your self-presentation to other users, to describe your interests, and to simplify contact establishment and maintenance. You can deactivate the display of your profile data for other participants in the app.
2. Exchange of Contact Information between Participants
You can share your contact information with other networking participants using the QR code scan function or receive the contact data of other users via the same function. Scanning your QR code by other users will share your contact data stored in the app with them. The same applies to the digital business card exchange between participants. The personal data includes, for example, first and last names, email address, company, job title, phone number/mobile number, and any additional information you provided in your profile.
3. Chat Function
Through the chat function, you can communicate with other users in private chat rooms, and this communication is visible only to the participants in the private chat room. A chat room can only be created if both participants confirm the contact interest in the app. You can request any participant in the public participant list; the chat option is enabled once the requested contact confirms your request.
To provide this chat function, we process your personal data, especially data from your user account (name, first name, company, job title, profile picture, and country). Additionally, we process the contents of the respective chat conversations.
4. Matchmaking Function
To facilitate contact with other networking participants the event application makes suggestions for contacts. To create these suggestions, we process data from your personal profile, particularly the information about your areas of interest. You can disable the matchmaking function in your profile settings at any time for the future, after which your profile will no longer be visible to others.
5. Camera Data
To scan QR codes, take picture notes, and use the integrated selfie camera, we need access to the camera functionality of your mobile phone. The data is stored on your device. You can revoke access in your operating system settings at any time. If access is revoked, certain functions may not be available.
6. Address Data
In order to store contacts obtained through the described contact and connectivity features, we need access to your address book. To facilitate contacting others, we will read – if you consent in the app – data from your device's address book and display it in the app; no data is transferred to Messe Stuttgart or any of our service providers. You can revoke this access at any time in your operating system settings. If access is revoked, some features may no longer be available.
Through address book access, you are given the option to save contacts obtained via the digital business card or exhibitor directory directly to your address book. The app checks locally on your device whether the contact is already stored in your address book. Our app needs access to your address book to store exhibitor contacts.
Additionally, address book access allows you to invite your contacts to use the app. When searching for a contact in the networking feature who is not yet an app user/participant, the address book can be checked, with permission, to see if the user is in the local address book, so they can be invited to join the app.
Access is granted only if you have previously consented. The legal basis for this is your consent under Art. 6 paragraph 1 lit. a) GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time with future effect. Please disable access in the app settings on your device if you wish to withdraw your consent.
7. Legal Basis for the Described Data Usage within the Networking Features
The data processed for the use of networking features is based on your consent according to Art. 6 paragraph 1 lit. a) GDPR. The individual sharing of profile information also takes place based on the consents requested in the app according to Art. 6 paragraph 1 lit. a) GDPR.
8. Reference to Other Provisions of the Privacy Policy
The specific information provided here regarding the privacy policy for using the event application does not affect or replace the other provisions of the Messe Stuttgart privacy policy, which is available at https://www.messe-stuttgart.de/en/data-protection-declaration, and only supplements it in relation to the use of the event application.
