eltefa 2025: Record number of visitors confirms success

Final Report | 27 March 2025

Strong industry impetus and future topics relating to digitalisation and the energy transition impress

eltefa 2025 impressively demonstrated why it is considered the most important trade fair for the electrical industry in the south of Germany. With a record number of over 24,600 trade visitors and outstanding exhibitor participation, the trade fair once again emphasised its high relevance for the industry. From 25 to 27 March 2025, Messe Stuttgart was transformed into the central meeting place for the electrical industry, the skilled trades and the energy sector - as confirmed by the consistently high quality of the visitors. Around 430 exhibiting companies showcased their products, services and solutions at the exhibition centre.

For three days, eltefa focussed on future technologies, sustainable energy systems and digital transformation. The close dovetailing with Volta-X, which took place at the same time and complemented the topics of energy storage and sector coupling of electricity, heat and mobility, created strong synergies. eltefa is characterised by the direct exchange between trade visitors and manufacturers. Visitors are given exclusive insights into new products and technological innovations - exclusively at first hand, without any intermediaries. This direct connection enables the personal dialogue with the experts presenting their latest solutions. Important partnerships with industry associations and representatives of the wholesale trade also contribute to eltefa's strong position.

Sebastian Schmid, Vice President of Messe Stuttgart, was delighted with the high level of participation: "The enormous number of visitors and the number of exhibiting companies confirm the importance of eltefa as a central industry meeting point. This is where impetus for the energy transition is generated and sustainable solutions for buildings, mobility and industry are discussed. This trade fair perfectly reflects the transformation of the electrical industry and the energy transition."

The great economic and technological importance of eltefa for the Baden-Württemberg region was also emphasised by Prof Dr Katharina Hölzle, Technology Commissioner of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism and Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering: "eltefa is of outstanding importance for the technological development in Baden-Württemberg. Electrical engineering and information technology are key growth markets and they are playing a decisive role for the realisation of the energy transition. The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism and the Fraunhofer IAO in Stuttgart are committed to providing the best possible support for this important sector."

Diversity, know-how and inspiration: The eltefa programme sets standards

Strong visitor growth went hand in hand with a high-calibre specialist programme: More than 80 experts shared their knowledge and discussed the future of the industry.

Whether at the "The All-electric Building" forum, which focussed on holistic electrification, at the Innovation Forum, which highlighted future topics such as smart homes and energy and load management, or at the ep Forum "Measuring and Testing", visitors were given a deep insight into the technological developments in the industry.

Other highlights included the special show "House of Smart Living", in which the connected living of the future was presented on 100 square metres, as well as the offer for the next generation of the industry: The Young Talent Area attracted numerous young professionals with the Apprentice Power Check and showed how important the next generation of skilled workers is for the industry. At the eltefa-thon, the young generation of the electrical industry also developed practical solutions for current challenges. The winning team "smarties" focussed on energy management and load control. Within 24 hours, they developed an app designed to facilitate demand-led energy management in the home – and deeply impressed the jury.

Thomas Bürkle, President of the Baden-Württemberg Association for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, emphasised the need for such platforms: "The energy transition can only succeed if we break new ground in electrical installation, storage technology and intelligent energy management – the building must be viewed as a system. eltefa offers exactly the right framework for experiencing these developments in a practical way and introducing them to the market. It combines practice with innovation and brings together specialists, manufacturers and planners - across generations."

With the new HerTechStories format to promote women in the electrical industry and the rebranding of the architecture format under the name SPOTLIGHT, new priorities were specifically set. The theme of architecture and light was given an exclusive stage with the repositioned format. Experts from architecture, planning and engineering met there for an interdisciplinary exchange on BIM, energy efficiency and lighting design in the future.

Future. At HerTechStories, four young female electricians shared their experiences in a talk followed by networking.

Speed ahead into the future: Outlook for eltefa 2027

The impressive success of eltefa 2025 forms the trend-setting basis for a strong event in 2027. The number of exhibiting companies, the increasing visitor interest and the growing importance of the core topics show that eltefa continues to stay on top of the issues that move the industry.

Sebastian Schmid is optimistic about the next event: "This year's eltefa was a complete success! Our aim is to consolidate this and develop it further by focussing the trade fair even more on the needs of the industry in 2027. Increasing digitalisation – especially in sector coupling –, the growing demand for storage solutions and the role of electrification in climate protection will once again be the focus in two years' time. We are already looking forward to the 2027 edition of eltefa.”

The next eltefa will be held at the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre from 2 to 4 March 2027.

Voices from exhibiting companies at eltefa 2025

Andree Fischer, Head of Marketing and Communication at Bals Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG:

"We are thrilled and speechless! The expectations were already very high and were even exceeded. We reached all the customers we wanted to reach and were able to launch our products on the market. Demand for sustainable products was particularly high. We have achieved more than we wanted and are already very much looking forward to eltefa 2027."

Alexander Diebold, Sales Manager South Germany at Regent Licht GmbH:

"The outcome of the trade fair was very positive for us. We had a very broad audience - from electrical planners and architects to electricians. The second day in particular was extremely busy. This is how a trade fair should be. And that is how we imagined it. That's why we wanted to take part in eltefa 2025 in the first place."

André Suntrup, Sales Manager Region West and Region South-West at OBO Bettermann Vertrieb Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG:

“eltefa 2025 - to describe it in one word – awesome! For OBO, eltefa is one of the most important regional trade fairs in Germany – we cannot and do not want to miss it. The high frequency of all our relevant target groups, compressed into three very successful and well-organised days, makes eltefa something special for us. We are looking forward to 2027 already.“

Gerald Hellermann, Sales Manager eMobility Germany MENNEKES Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG:

"We are regular exhibitors at eltefa and it has become clear that we are absolutely right to do so. Both in the pre-marketing and in the discussions at the stand, we were able to welcome the entire spectrum of our customers and multipliers – from the electrical trade and electrical wholesalers to planners and facility managers. We already know that we will be back next time."

Tobias Händler, Chief Marketing Officer Benetics AG:

"Our conclusion after three days at eltefa is consistently positive. Benetics is a very young company, we have only been around for two and a half years. We bring ChatGPT to the construction site to its creators. The interest was huge. We joined as an exhibitor at very short notice and are very grateful for the great organisation. We will definitely be back in 2027."

Arne Perlitz, Regional Manager TRILUX Vertrieb GmbH:

"We had an excellent response from all the sectors we wanted: Electrical installation, trades, industry and planners. eltefa is our "living room" – we will definitely be back in two years' time."

Christian Burghardt, Director Sales South-West Germany PHOENIX CONTACT GmbH & Co. KG:

“We are thoroughly satisfied with eltefa 2025. eltefa really offers a great setting for good, in-depth discussions on the right topics with the right people. That's why it's so much fun to be at the trade fair. We have been an eltefa regular before 2023, and will definitely be back in 2027."

Daniel Scherer, Regional Sales Manager Germany South RZB Rudolf Zimmermann, Bamberg GmbH:

"Regional trade fairs are extremely important for RZB and we already had consistently positive feedback two years ago. By the second day of the fair, we had already exceeded the 2023 figures. The quality was exceptional. We met our target group of electrical planners, electricians and wholesalers. Despite the current overall situation, the quality of the discussions was very high and we are very satisfied. Our expectations were absolutely surpassed. We are really looking forward to 2027.“

Stefan Heil, Managing Director of Omexom eMobility GmbH:

"This year we were pleasantly surprised by the large number of exhibitors, interested parties and visitors at the trade fair compared to 2023. As a "home game", eltefa is the ideal platform for us to meet our existing customers and make valuable new contacts. We hope to be able to build on this positive momentum in post-fair business."

Dominic Zwerenz, Technical Customer Service ELTAKO GmbH:

"As we are based here in Stuttgart, eltefa is for us almost an in-house exhibition par excellence – a must-attend event. The discussions were fantastic – we were able to cultivate many contacts and convince many customers of our new products. The conclusion of eltefa is: We’ll come again in 2027!"

Robert Heuwieser, Sales Field Service Electrical Engineering, dataTac AG:

"We decided to exhibit at eltefa because it is like an in-house exhibition. We are based in nearby Reutlingen and always enjoy being here. The quality and number of visitors this year was truly remarkable. Our summary of eltefa 2025: It was another great trade fair and we are looking forward to 2027."

Mario Sturm, Head of the Building Technology Division Adolf Würth GmbH & Co KG:

"eltefa 2025 has once again shown how important this trade fair is for our network and the industry exchange. Efficiency, digitalisation and sustainability - these topics were the focus of our stand at eltefa 2025. Under the motto "Install the future", we presented solutions and technologies that optimise work processes in the trade from the office to the construction site. We were able to hold numerous valuable discussions and are already looking forward to the next eltefa."

With its size and reach, eltefa is an ideal meeting place for us to talk to our partners about their challenges and show how our innovations and products can help them."

Udo Hoffmann, Vice President National Sales Schneider Electric GmbH:

"eltefa is an important regional trade fair for us in the German speaking countries, which we see as the right format for us to present ourselves to professionals and decision-makers from the electrical industry. This year, we were able to present our pioneering and well-designed solutions for intelligent buildings to visitors."
