didacta 2020 – Meeting the world of education

The world's largest and most important education trade fair is expecting to welcome around 90,000 visitors in Stuttgart/German Federal Minister of Education and Research Karliczek opens event

rom 24th March 2020, didacta – The trade fair for education and training (24th to 28th March 2020) in Stuttgart will centre on all things educational for five days. At the world's largest trade fair for the entire educational sector, over 800 companies from around 40 countries will present a comprehensive range of equipment and facilities, educational media and didactic materials for all educational and training sectors. The exhibitors at didacta – The trade fair for education and training will include all of the renowned providers of educational media and the leading software and hardware companies in the sector, as well as educational institutions and organisations, along with suppliers. With its broadly diversified accompanying and congress programme, didacta – The trade fair for education and training is underlining its leading function as the "education summit" for experts and the general public. The event, which will be opened by Anja Karliczek, the German Federal Minister of Education and Research, will serve as a meeting place for the exchange of information and ideas both between the actors in education and those involved in technologies, products and methods.

Education sector generates turnover of over €130 billion
Education and training is both a socially relevant topic and an important economic factor. In the past year, the German Federal Ministry of the Economy recorded statistics for the first time showing that, in 2017, the education sector generated turnover of €133.3 billion. For comparison: In the same period, the tourism sector generated a gross value added of €105.3 billion. In 2017, around 2.5 million people were employed in the education sector in Germany. The share of the macroeconomic employment market was 5.6 per cent – meaning that approximately every 18th employee was working in the education sector.

Start-ups complete the range on offer
The complete range of products and services and trends from all areas of education, from early education through to adult education, will be presented across seven halls at didacta – The trade fair for education and training in Stuttgart.

The event is being divided into four exhibition areas: Early Childhood Education, School/University, Vocational Training/Qualification, as well as didacta DIGITAL. The trade fair showcases products and solutions from the areas of teaching aids and resources, music, play and sport materials, publications and digital media, multimedia, presentation technology and software, equipment and systems for science and vocational education and training, room and laboratory equipment training, further training/further education, consultation and E-learning. For the first time, Stuttgart will also host a Start-Up Area, in which around 50 founders are presenting their innovative ideas and offers.

didacta – The trade fair for education and training is the no. 1 trade fair for digital education and training
The future lies with embedding technology-supported learning into holistic educational concepts. didacta – The trade fair for education and training 2020 will again take account of the growing importance of digital education and training in corporate processes, in school education, university education or early childhood education. The platform will offer a separate exhibition area for this, as well as numerous offerings in the six additional trade fair halls and the accompanying congresses. This makes it the largest trade fair in Germany with regard to its digital education offering.

didacta – The trade fair for education and training 2020 also offers its visitors an accompanying programme with around 1500 unique and highly informative events. The comprehensive further training programme for skilled workers from all areas of education and training is supplemented with presentations, podium events, workshops and seminars. In 2020, as part of didacta – The trade fair for education and training, the education summit of the municipal state associations of Baden-Württemberg will take place, at which, in addition to around 1000 representatives from the municipalities, Minister President Winfried Kretschmann is also expected to be in attendance.

Groups who would like to attend didacta – The trade fair for education and training 2020 in Stuttgart can take advantage of the group bonus. The Didacta Association (Didacta Verband), the Association for Education Media (Verband Bildungsmedien e.V.), as well as Messe Stuttgart, are offering a bus bonus of 100 Euro per bus.
