CMT goes digital

Novelty platform for tourism, caravanning and hardware industry in January addresses journalists and B2B visitors – On-site participation possible

January without CMT? Not an option! That is why Messe Stuttgart has decided to bring a digital version of CMT to your home screens on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. "We are of course aware that a public trade fair with almost 300,000 visitors and well over 2,000 exhibitors cannot simply be transferred to the internet," says Guido von Vacano, member of the board of management of Messe Stuttgart. "Nevertheless, we are convinced that there are key elements that are perfectly suited for a digital day!"

Specifically, these are press conferences, novelty presentations and B2B sessions. "CMT is not only the world's largest public trade fair for tourism and leisure, it is also the novelty show at the beginning of the year," says CMT department director Alexander Ege. "We naturally take on this role even when it is not possible to hold large trade fairs!"

Novelties – digital and on site

Exhibitors from the tourism, caravanning and cycling sectors present their innovations and offers for 2021 in digital sessions. The individual press conferences and panel discussions will be streamed from Messe Stuttgart’s own TV studio in the International Congress Center Stuttgart (ICS). Journalists and trade visitors thus have the opportunity to find out digitally and live about the innovations in the various segments. "We are very pleased that we were able to get this offer up and running within a very short time and that numerous exhibitors are using CMTdigital to present their products and services," says Ege.

To make the offer even more attractive for journalists, bloggers and vloggers, there is another option: "In consultation with the relevant authorities, we have created the possibility for a limited number of journalists to follow the press conferences in the large studio on site. In addition, the caravanning manufacturers and suppliers also show their digitally presented vehicles and innovations physically on site – in an exhibition hall with sufficient distance. This makes it possible for journalists and content creators to also take a 'live' look at the new products presented in the stream, take photos and videos, and thus do extensive research for their articles," explains Ege. "Those who can't or don't want to be on site simply watch the presentations on their home computers and take advantage of the opportunity to ask their questions online."

Here's how it works

CMTdigital will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. The live stream of the press conferences, presentations and events can be accessed at www.messe-stuttgart.de/cmt. The schedule as well as the list of participating exhibitors and presented products will be available from mid-January. CMTdigital is primarily aimed at B2B visitors and media representatives. Registration or accreditation to access the stream is not necessary.

Media representatives also have the opportunity to view the presented innovations from the caravanning industry on site at the Stuttgart trade fair grounds, to talk to brand managers and to produce video or image material. The vehicles are exhibited in a hall, so that existing distance regulations can be respected at any time. The offer of on-site participation is exclusively for media representatives (journalists, bloggers and vloggers) who can present appropriate proof of activity. The number of participants is limited. Accreditation for on-site participation is necessary and possible from Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Information on this will be sent out at the beginning of January.
