Fritz Winter Eisengießerei invests in the future

Fritz Winter Eisengießerei has launched the largest investment program in the company's history. Together with debt advisor Falkensteg and the international commercial law firm Mayer Brown, the Stadtallendorf-based family business has developed a future concept for a syndicated loan with a transaction volume of around 300 million euros.

"Financing with this volume is a confirmation of our work in the current environment of the automotive industry and shows the confidence of the lenders in Fritz Winter," said CFO Jörg Müller after the closing on February 16. He thanked the employees of the finance and legal departments at Fritz Winter for their commitment in working on this financing. "We are combining bold strategies, investments and transformative technologies to make new developments more sustainable, achieve lasting performance improvements and build a workforce that will be successful for this generation and the next," he explained. Over the next few years, the money will be used specifically to further accelerate the development of innovations and consistently drive forward decarbonization in order to achieve the planned CO2 neutrality by 2045 and thus future-proof the sites.

The foundation for this is further investment in eco solutions, which have already set new standards for environmental sustainability in the foundry industry over the past ten years. These currently comprise three innovative approaches: ecoCasting, ecoMelting and ecoCoating.

ecoCasting is considered the most sustainable iron casting process in the world. For example, it does not use green sand, saves several million liters of drinking water per year and conserves valuable resources such as sand and energy thanks to the monosand system. While ecoCoating stands for environmentally friendly surface coatings to minimize wear on brake discs, extend their service life and reduce fine dust emissions by up to 90%, ecoMelting aims to develop measures that lead to a CO2-neutral foundry that is independent of fossil fuels.
