Digital Way receives positive reaction in the IT industry

Software providers welcome concept of the special show / New platform provides industrial companies with opportunity for knowledge transfer in area of digitalisation

IT providers adopt a positive approach to the Digital Way special show, which is integrated for the first time this year within the framework of AMB. Particularly the alignment to Industry 4.0, the combination of a high-ranking congress and accompanying exhibition, but also the chosen event name, are receiving much praise. Digital Way takes place on 18 and 19 September 2018 at the Stuttgart trade fair centre.

"With Digital Way AMB receives a new platform on which users can obtain comprehensive information on how Industry 4.0 and the digitalisation of processes can be specifically implemented", states Gunnar Mey, Department Director of Industrial Solutions at Messe Stuttgart. "We already discussed the concept behind the event with numerous ITC providers who confirmed our conceptual design of the event."

Rolf Lang, Managing Director, agorum Software GmbH:
"We are all on the Digital Way – industry and IT are becoming more and more interlinked through Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. Whoever wants to keep up with the competition must accelerate and automate their processes using digital means. Information management systems such as agorum core create the necessary prerequisite by digitalising business processes as well as structuring all company information and making it available where it is needed."

Dr. Stefan Becker, Managing Director, evomecs GmbH, adds: "As a young company and provider of universal automation software for individual and small series production in the metal-cutting area, the Digital Way special show is the ideal platform in order to present our company and product to the industry in a future-oriented context. We are really looking forward to the event." But also established providers such as TDM Systems GmbH are convinced of the concept of the special show. Its Sales Manager, Eugen Bollinger, states: "We have been implementing digitalisation for more than 25 years. We recognised early on that current and complete tool data for the individual process steps is the key to future-oriented production.
Today's technical possibilities and the awareness of the importance of networking multiplies the potential of tool lifecycle management and gives us more of an opportunity to take our customers with us into the digital era. The Digital Way special show is therefore exactly the right platform to present ourselves as a pioneer and shaper of the future of tool data management."

Conference with expert presentations enhances Digital Way

Elements of Digital Way include the exhibition, interactive showcases, as well as an expert conference which Messe Stuttgart is developing in cooperation with the Software and Digitalisation Association of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). The session taking place on the first day, 18 September, entitled "Model-based digital engineering", reflects the high quality of keynote speakers awaiting visitors with attractive topics. This is moderated by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mike Barth, who is responsible for mechatronic system development at the University of Pforzheim. In his introductory talk he mentions the growing importance of simulation technology. Here he explains the increasing influence of microcomputers on the automation world. Then Roland Rosen, Siemens AG Munich, Corporate Technology, Research and Development for Digitalisation and Automation - Simulation & Digital Twin, builds a technical vision of the next generation of the digital twin from the simulation perspective. Oliver Stern, Department Director, RIF e.V., Dortmund, then presents practical examples and recommended actions for the virtual commissioning of complex technical systems.

About Digital Way:
Digital Way is a special show that will take place on 18 and 19 September 2018 at AMB (international exhibition for metal working) in Stuttgart. It is dedicated to the increasing digitalisation in production. The concept consists of, firstly, an exclusive specialist congress, which is being organised in cooperation with the Software and Digitalisation Association in the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). Secondly, manufacturers of software solutions in the area of digital business processes, digital production, digital product development, digital service & customer service, security, software development, as well as service providers and manufacturers of hardware, will present themselves in an accompanying exhibition. Within the framework of showcases, visitors can experience examples of applications and best practices live, which provide an overview of the interaction of networked processes within companies and their added value.
